Last week my Nanna died.
On her fridge, she had a magnet that said, "Artists make lousy slaves."
Nanna was an extraordinary artist. And she would have made a terrible slave.
She left the world more beauty than it had when she found it. There was so much of her that inspired me and more that inspires me still.
I say not in grief, "she is no more,"
but live in thankfulness that she was.
And the most fitting tribute I can imagine is unwork any ties created to hold our wings.
